What is Linux ?
Linux is a free Unix-type operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world. Linux is an independent POSIX implementation and includes true multitasking, virtual memory, shared libraries, demand loading, proper memory management, TCP/IP networking and other features consistent with Unix-type systems. Developed under the GNU General Public License, the source code for Linux is freely available to everyone.
Why a sceensaver for Windows (95/98/NT)?
Many (Italian) Windows users asked me how Linux looks like and if it has only a command line interface. They just want to have an idea about how it looks before installing it. For this reason I realized this screen saver that shows some screenshots (the program is in English... don't worry).
The screensaver was created using Webshot and it is optimized for an 800x600 screen resolution... if you use a different resolution you might experience problems in displaying some images.
How to contribute:
I'm really happy if the Linux community wants to contribute to this project: the Linux open model can only benefits from this screensaver!
If you have good screenshots that you like to add please let me know...
But please don't send images at this stage: just send urls where I can get them!
How the screensaver looks like?
Some people wrote to ask screenshots of Linux feeling... well it is difficult to have the screenshot of a screensaver. In any case here you can see the configuration dialog box:
